Red Wine
Eleanor Red Wine
If you think Yorkshire can’t do red wine, prepare to be corrected. Eleanor is our signature smooth-talker; a blend of Pinot Noir, Cabernet, and Gamay grapes grown right here at Nun Monkton.
It pours a lovely translucent ruby red, classic Pinot style, and is packed with bright red fruit flavours. It’s soft, it’s mellow, and it’s surprisingly versatile. A proper red wine that drinks beautifully on its own or with a Sunday lunch.
More Details
Making red wine in Yorkshire takes patience, nerve, and the right grapes. For Eleanor, we blended three heavy-hitters: Pinot Noir, Cabernet, and Gamay. The result is a wine that defies the cool climate stereotypes. It isn’t sharp or thin; it’s rounded and rich. The Gamay brings the fruit, the Pinot brings the class, and the Cabernet gives it just enough backbone. It’s approachable enough for a Tuesday night, but special enough for Sunday lunch.
Winemakers Notes
"We wanted a red that was accessible, not aggressive. This blend gives you that lovely black cherry hit straight away, but it’s the low tannins that make it special. It’s incredibly soft on the palate with a long, mellow finish."
