Red Wine
Mercian red
A smooth, fruit-forward red, crafted right here at our Yorkshire vineyard from four of the finest cool-climate red grapes. Served slightly cool (around 16°C), this is the kind of wine that works on a Tuesday evening just as well as it does on a dinner party table.
More Details
Mercian Red is our most ambitious red wine to date. A carefully balanced blend of four grape varieties that each bring something different to the glass.
Rondo and Acolon make up the backbone, giving the wine its deep colour and generous dark fruit character: think blackberry, black plum, and a hint of violet. Regent adds a touch of structure and a note of black cherry, while Divico rounds everything out with a warm, spiced finish.
The result is a smooth, easy-drinking red that punches well above its price point. It’s dry but approachable, with soft tannins and fruit that doesn’t need coaxing out, it’s right there from the first sip.
Winemakers Notes
"Mercian Red has been a long time coming. I've wanted to make a proper blended red for years, and these four varieties just work together beautifully. The Rondo and Acolon give it that depth of colour and dark fruit character, and the Regent and Divico add just enough complexity to keep it interesting. It's smooth, it's fruit-forward, and it doesn't need a special occasion. Open a bottle with your Funday dinner and see what you think."
