Varietal Wine
Pinot Noir
Yes, we grow Pinot Noir in Yorkshire. And yes, it’s everything you want it to be. Known as the winemaker’s ultimate challenge, this grape thrives in our cool climate, producing a red wine that is delicate, aromatic, and full of finesse.
Forget heavy, jammy reds. This is light, silky, and bursting with fresh red berries. It’s a red wine for people who “don’t usually drink red,” and a pleasant surprise for the connoisseurs who think good Pinot only comes from Burgundy.
More Details
Pinot Noir is a famously fussy grape, but our Nun Monkton soil adds a special Yorkshire character to it. We treat these grapes with kid gloves to preserve their delicate skins. The result is a beautiful, translucent ruby wine packed with aromas of raspberry, cherry, and a hint of spice. It has soft tannins and a refreshing finish, making it incredibly versatile. It’s elegant, it’s rare, and it’s made proper.
Winemakers Notes
"Pinot Noir is a labour of love. You can't rush it or force it. We let the fruit do the talking, we want you to taste the strawberry and the cherry, not the oak. It’s a fantastic example of what English red wine can be."
